Read the article "How Geniuses Think."Respond to the following: Describe the author's interpretation of Genius and how it differs from conventional definitions of Genius. What are the shared strategies of geniuses? How does your Genius Hour project encourage you to use some of these strategies?
The article discusses what it actually means to be a genius for the author by saying that it is more than just intelligence or incredible thinking skills. Typical definitions of genius include ones focused more on explaining the intelligence behind some of the world's greatest minds and how they were insanely smart and motivated. Geniuses think in a productive way not a reproductive way as most people do. The author believes that a true genius will look at a problem and instead of just answering in a conventional way they will automatically come up with multiple alternate ways to look at the problem and look at it from all different angles. The shared strategies of geniuses include the methods of looking at problems from different perspectives, making their thoughts visible, being productive, forming novel combinations, forcing relationships, thinking in opposites, thinking metaphorically, and being prepared for the chance that a creative accident might occur. These are all incessantly important because they all open up the mind and allow a broader sense of ideas to take over. The article stresses that it is because geniuses know how to think rather than knowing what to think that makes them so successful in their ideas. My genius hour project encourages me to use some of these methods by forcing me to ask questions about what would be appealing to other people when I'm decorating my page or when I'm deciding which project I would like to do and also making our thoughts about the projects visible by including our thoughts during the process in our blog posts. This idea of using different perspectives of people who might visit our sites also allows us to create more effective posts that can ultimately result in satisfaction for viewers of our blogs.
