Blog Post #4: After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk about education, express your thoughts on how his views do/do not relate to the concept of Genius Hour. What about Ken Robinson's views do you agree/disagree with?
After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk about education, I think that it relates to Genius Hour in many ways because they both are very concentrated on letting kids explore other interests rather than conforming to the standardized curriculum that is set in the American education system currently. In the video, Robinson talked about how creatively limited education is right now and how this limitation is what has one of the largest effects on student learning. He was right when he said that students who don't do as well in school because they may not learn in the way that is set in the curriculum are not given equal opportunity. It isn't equal because the school labels and conditions them with neagative grades appointed for memorizing information for a test, which they may not be able to do.
